Overview

The Bachelor of Formulation Science (Honours) programme provides students with in-depth knowledge and hands-on practical experience of the diverse fields in formulation science and technology. The programme trains students with creative and critical thinking, in addition to the research skills needed to design and formulate innovative products in pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, biopharmaceuticals, food, or chemicals. The primary focus of the programme is the intensive hands-on approach and attachments to industries to enhance the knowledge and skills of students for global careers. This programme will equip the students with entrepreneurship skills, marketing as well as the international and local regulatory and environmental standards, with a pathway to register for a related Masters in Pharmaceutical Sciences programme upon graduation.

Academic Requirements

A-Levels
  • Minimum Grade C in Chemistry and Biology/Physics/Mathematics.
  • Pass SPM or equivalent with minimum three (3) credits including Mathematics, Chemistry, and one other subject.
  • Credit requirement at SPM level can be waived should the grades obtained at STPM / A-Levels / Matriculation / Foundation level be equivalent/higher.
STPM
  • CGPA 2.00 and above with minimum of Grade C (GPA 2.00) in Chemistry and Biology/Physics/Mathematics.
  • Pass SPM or equivalent with minimum three (3) credits including Mathematics, Chemistry, and one other subject.
  • Credit requirement at SPM level can be waived should the grades obtained at STPM / A-Levels / Matriculation / Foundation level be equivalent/higher.
Matriculation
  • CGPA 2.00 and above with minimum of Grade C in Chemistry and Biology/Physics/Mathematics.
  • Pass SPM or equivalent with minimum three (3) credits including Mathematics, Chemistry, and one other subject.
  • Credit requirement at SPM level can be waived should the grades obtained at the STPM / A-Levels / Matriculation / Foundation level be equivalent/higher.
Foundation in Sciences
  • CGPA 2.00 and above with minimum of Grade C in Chemistry and Biology/Physics/Mathematics.
  • Pass SPM or equivalent with minimum three (3) credits including Mathematics, Chemistry, and one other subject.
  • Credit requirement at SPM level can be waived should the grades obtained at STPM / A-Levels / Matriculation / Foundation level be equivalent/higher.
Diploma/Advanced Diploma/Degree/Equivalent
  • CGPA 2.00 and above with minimum of Grade C in Chemistry and Biology/Physics/Mathematics.
UEC
  • Minimum Grade B6 in 5 subjects, including Chemistry, Biology/Physics/Mathematics, and any other three subjects.
SAM
  • Aggregate 60% inclusive of Chemistry and Biology/Physics/Mathematics.
CPU
  • Aggregate 60% inclusive of Chemistry and Biology/Physics/Mathematics.
WAEC/NECO
  • Aggregate 60% inclusive of Chemistry and Biology/Physics/Mathematics.
International Baccalaureate (IB)
  • Minimum score of 26/42 in 6 subjects including Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics/Physics.
Other qualifications deemed equivalent to STPM/A-Levels by Malaysian Qualification Agency
  • Aggregate 60% inclusive of Chemistry and Biology/Physics/Mathematics.

  • In the event that the English language requirements are not met, applicants will be required to take Basic English and English Foundation for in-sessional academic enhancement concurrently with the programme.

  • IGCSE BM is not equivalent to SPM BM, hence students will need to take Bahasa Kebangsaan A.

  • International applicants who do not meet the respective academic programme’s English Language Requirement will need to improve their proficiency by enrolling in the English for Tertiary Education programme (R/KJP/00920-00929), which helps prepare them to attain the required band score. Placement into the various levels depends on the English Language qualification students have at the point of admission and/or the outcome of the English Placement Test.
