This course offers medical graduates an in-depth understanding of research in a variety of areas such as biomedical science, public health, clinical medicine and medical education. You can choose from an array of research streams and match your interest to the respective projects.
You’ll be embedded in a research setting with renowned researchers, and exposed to various technologies and research methodologies from a wide range of clinical and laboratory settings. Throughout the course, you’ll learn skills relating to data analysis and the communication of scientific ideas in oral presentations and a written thesis.
The is a full-time two-semester degree by research program where you’ll undertake research activities under the guidance of a dedicated supervisor. Over the course of the year, you’ll work on a literature review, minor thesis, and oral and poster presentations.

In the increasingly competitive clinical fellowship and graduate scenario, the degree will be an advantage in obtaining training and scholarship positions. It can also be a qualifying degree which can lead to postgraduate studies at a master’s or doctorate level.
Upon successful completion of this course it is expected that you’ll be able to:
- identify, retrieve, interpret and critically review the clinical and scientific literature in their field
- demonstrate advanced knowledge and technical skills in their chosen area of research
- develop, apply, integrate and generate clinical and/or scientific knowledge to analyse challenges and to develop effective solutions

The biomedical science research project provides you with a higher level of experience in independent analysis and research in your chosen field of expertise, and brings together the clinical and biomedical perspectives. Additionally, you’ll be able to further develop your skills in oral and written communications, presentation and collaboration.
The BMedSc (Hons) program at Monash University Malaysia is currently open for enrolment to eligible medical graduates who have successfully completed the undergraduate medical program at Monash University.
Applications from medical graduates of other universities will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Additionally, all applicants must fulfil Monash University’s English language requirements.

Course applications should be made directly to the Medicine Course Management Office.
As part of the process, you must complete a research project synopsis and research outline, which can be found on the Bachelor of Medical Science (Honours) application form. Applications are also required to identify a suitable supervisor from the Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences. This information must be completed upon the submission of your application.
