Fully accredited by the Pharmacy Board Malaysia, UCSI University’s Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) is well-known among industry practitioners and employers. Hands-on approach and student-centred, the programme is designed to encourage students to become independent learners who are capable of undertaking and understanding challenges in the use of medicine and in healthcare. The programme is geared towards the patient as the major focus for the application of knowledge of pharmaceutical sciences. There are four main areas within the programme: Physiology and Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology, and Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice. This programme will equip you with the scientific, clinical and professional knowledge as well as strong communication skills to positively impact the healthcare system.

Professional Recognition

The Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) programme is recognised by the Malaysian Pharmacy Board (MPB). The Pharmaceutical service division under the Ministry of Health recognises UCSI as a Provisionally Registered (PRP) training facility under R&D pathway.

Programme Details

The duration of the programme is 4 years.

In each year there are two long-semesters consisting of 14 weeks of instruction with 2 weeks of examinations. The long-semesters start in January and July.

In addition, students also undertake a research and development project in their final year.

The number of contact hours per course per week depends on the credit and teaching methodology of each course. Each credit is approximately equivalent to 1 hour of class, or 2 hours of labs per week.

Applicants shall be required to pass an aptitude test and/or a university entrance examination.

Additional requirements

International applicants who do not meet the respective academic programme’s English Language Requirement will need to improve their proficiency by enrolling into the English for Tertiary Education programme (R/KJP/00920-00929) which helps them prepare for attaining a required band score. Placement into the various levels of the English for Tertiary Education programme depends on the English Language qualification students have at the point of admission and/or the outcome of the English Placement Test.

Applicants who have met the respective academic programme’s English Language Requirement may be advised by the faculty to improve their proficiency by undertaking the additional English proficiency courses.

    • been found guilty of any criminal offence(s);
    • serious physical or mental illness;
    • serious communicable disease(s) which may impact upon their future practice.
  • A person with any of the following shall be disqualified from entry into a pharmacy programme:
    • found guilty of offence(s) affecting the human body;
    • recent or serious dishonesty e.g., cheating at examinations, falsification of documents, plagiarism;
    • serious physical or mental illness;
    • serious communicable disease(s).
  • International students are required to attend a pre-admission interview.
  • All applicants are required to pass an aptitude test and/or any suitable assessment set by the individual university.
  • Graduates from a pharmacy programme who seek employment in the public sector must fulfil the criteria set by the Public Service Commission of Malaysia (SPA).
