Agricultural Science is an interdisciplinary field that encompasses essential aspects of agriculture including agronomy, aquaculture and animal science as primary sources of food for human’s need. Bachelor of Science (Honours) Agricultural Science students will learn the principles and applications of science, management and breeding of animal and plant production, agribusiness, land and water management, digitalisation of agriculture and agricultural related systems analysis.Â

The students will be introduced to modern commercial scale farming involving agro-biodiversity, soil science, aquatic biology, precision agriculture, improved fish and animal husbandry, enhancing downstream agriculture activities and better understanding of the agro-ecosystem that promotes sustainable food production.Â

 In UTAR, we provide facilities and land dedicated for this programme which is known as UTAR Agriculture Park to support students’ learning in terms of field work and hands-on experiment. Most of the learning courses are emphasising field visit at the real industry sectors such as visit to the oil palm plantation, fruits and vegetables farms, fish or prawn hatchery centre, goat and poultry farms and others to enhance learning exposure and fun learning experiences among the students. Moreover, the students are able to gain international exposure opportunity in terms of student exchange or internship in renowned agriculture related universities such as National Pingtung University of Science and Technology and National Cheng Kung University (NCKU).Â

Besides, there are special privileges offered only to Agricultural Science students, for instance scholarships offered by agriculture-based giant corporates such as Kuala Lumpur Kepong Berhad, United Malacca Plantation Berhad, IOI Group and Kuok Foundation.
