This course has a business-oriented focus, seeking to advance your knowledge of the international environment in which firms and their managers operate, considering issues such as international trade and the internationalisation of operations.
You’ll develop expertise in communicating and negotiating across cultures, and enhance your capacity for advanced analysis of firm internationalisation, corporate strategy, and more. You’ll have the skills to lead your company through the internationalisation process, making this course extremely relevant especially if you’re seeking career advancement in ambitious organisations and companies.

PART C – Application Studies
The focus of these studies is professional or scholarly work that can contribute to a portfolio of professional development in international business and related areas.
Master’s entry points
Depending on prior qualifications you may receive entry level credit (a form of block credit) which determines your point of entry to the course:
- If you are admitted at entry level 1 you complete 96 credit points, comprising Part A, Part B and Part C.
- If you are admitted at entry level 2 you complete 72 credit points, comprising Part B and Part C.
- If you are admitted at entry level 3 you complete 48 credit points, comprising Part B.
Note: If you are eligible for credit for prior studies you may elect not to receive the credit and complete the higher credit-point option.

Everyone’s welcome
You don’t need a background in business to excel in this course. Our students come from a wide range of fields and specialisations. If you have not previously studied business, the course includes preparatory units that will give you the business knowledge needed for the remainder of the course.
Credit exemption
If you already have a degree in a relevant discipline, you can accelerate your study with a credit exemption from the preparatory units in the course. This means that you can graduate in 1.5 years on full-time study.
Study tours
A highlight of this course is the Global Study Tour, an elective course component that is not offered in any other study program. Over two weeks, you will visit selected countries in Asia and Europe and engage with established international businesses for a hands-on experience, observing how local politics, culture, institutions and environments impact businesses, and gaining an insightful understanding of global business practices.
Our students have been to China, Japan, Hong Kong, India and Korea where they’ve visited companies such as Boeing, Crédit Agricole, Hewlett-Packard and Samsung.

To apply for the Master of International Business, you must meet either one of the criteria below:
Entry level 1: 96 points to complete (Duration: 2 years full-time, 4 years part-time)
- An Australian bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent qualification, with a minimum credit 57.5% average, or
- An Australian bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent qualification with a minimum 50% average, and a minimum of three years of relevant work experience⁷.
Entry level 2: 72 points to complete (Duration: 1.5 years full-time, 3 years part-time)
- An Australian bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent qualification, in a cognate discipline with a minimum credit 57.5% average, or
- An Australian bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent qualification, with a minimum credit 57.5% average and a minimum of two years of relevant work experience⁷, or
- An Australian bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification, in a cognate discipline with a minimum 50% average and a minimum of two years of relevant work experience⁷.
Entry level 3: 48 points to complete (Duration: 1 year full-time, 2 years part-time)
- An Australian bachelor honours degree, or an equivalent qualification, in a cognate discipline with a minimum credit 57.5% average.
