Software Engineering is the discipline of developing and maintaining software systems that behave reliably and efficiently, are affordable and are built to customers’ specifications. It will always be a major tool to support the software development of all organizations regardless of the nature of business. Software engineers are expected to develop systematic models and reliable techniques for producing high-quality software on time and within a budget. This programme aims to provide students with a solid foundation of the concept and the underlying principles of software engineering. It contains significantly more software related courses and places a greater emphasis in cultivating an understanding of and experience in the software process. The programme equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary to analyse, design, develop, test and implement, evaluate, maintain and document a large scale software system.

Entry Requirements

STPM (Arts Stream) Pass with a minimum Grade of C (GP 2.00) in any (2) subjects and a credit in Additional Mathematics at the SPM Level or its equivalent

OR

Pass with a minimum Grade of C (GP 2.00) in any (2) subjects AND a credit in SPM Mathematics and any one of the Science, Technology or Engineering subjects or its equivalent.

STPM (Science stream) Pass with a minimum Grade of C (GP 2.00) in Mathematics subject and ONE (1) Science / ICT subject; or
STAM Pass with minimum grade of Jayyid in any 2 subjects and credit in Additional Mathematics at SPM level

OR

Pass with minimum grade of Jayyid in any 2 subjects and credit in Mathematics and any Science, Technology or Engineering subjects at SPM level.

A-Level Pass with Grade D in any two (2) subjects and a credit in Additional Mathematics at the SPM Level or its equivalent;

OR

Pass with a minimum of Grade D in any two (2) subjects and a credit in Mathematics and any one of the Science Technology or Engineering Subjects at SPM Level or its equivalent;

UEC Pass with at least Grade B in any five (5) subjects and a credit in Additional Mathematics at the
SPM Level or its equivalent;

OR

Pass with at least Grade B in any five (5) subjects and a credit in Mathematics and any one of
the Science Technology or Engineering Subjects at SPM Level or its equivalent

Foundation / Matriculation
Pass with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and a credit in Additional Mathematics at the SPM Level or its equivalent;

OR

Pass with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and a credit in Mathematics and any one of the Science Technology or Engineering Subjects at SPM Level or its equivalent. Candidates are required to take and pass reinforcement mathematics subject in the first semester.

Diploma in Computing fields (Level 4, MQF) Pass with minimum CGPA of 2.50, CGPA below 2.50 but more than 2.00 subject to internal evaluation / interview; or
Any Diploma in Science and Technology (Level 4, MQF) Pass with a minimum CGPA 2.75; CGPA below 2.75 but more than 2.50 may subject internal evaluation / interview; or
Diploma Kemahiran Malaysia (DKM) / Diploma Vokasional Malaysia (DVM) /  Diploma Lanjutan Kemahiran Malaysia (DLKM)  in Computing fields Pass with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 subjected to HEP Senate / Academic Board’s approval

*International students with qualifications from educational systems where English language is the main medium of instruction are exempted from this requirement.

International students who do not fulfil the English Language Requirements may join the Intensive English Programme at Nilai University which builds their skills in the language and prepares them for the IELTS examination.
