ABOUT THIS PROGRAMME
This program provides a comprehensive education in designing and constructing buildings and spaces. This program integrates theoretical knowledge with practical skills. Students begin with foundational courses in design principles, architectural history, and materials science. As they progress, they engage in advanced topics such as structural systems, environmental design, and urban planning.
Key components include studio-based projects where students develop design concepts and create detailed architectural plans, as well as hands-on experiences through internships and design-build projects. Courses often involve collaborative work, critical thinking, and the use of software tools like CAD (Computer-Aided Design) and BIM (Building Information Modeling).
Students also explore sustainability and innovative technologies, preparing them to address contemporary challenges in architecture. The program culminates in a comprehensive design capstone project, showcasing their skills and understanding. What will I learn?

What will I do?
As an architect, your job involves designing functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces by translating client needs and preferences into detailed plans and specifications. You oversee the entire project lifecycle, from initial consultations and design development to project management and construction oversight. This includes coordinating with engineers and contractors, solving design and technical challenges, and ensuring compliance with building codes and safety standards. Additionally, you incorporate sustainable practices and stay updated with industry trends to deliver innovative solutions that meet both client expectations and environmental goals.

How much will I earn?
As of the latest data, the average salary for an architecture degree graduate in Malaysia typically ranges from MYR 2,200 to MYR 4,500 per month. However, salaries can vary based on factors such as experience, location, and the size of the employer. For example:
Part I Architects (Technical Assistant) : Fresh graduates or those with less than two years of experience can expect to earn around MYR 2,200 to MYR 4,500 per month.
Part II Graduate Architects: With a few years of experience, the salary can increase to MYR 3,500 to MYR 6,000 per month.
Part III Architects or Senior Architects and Project Managers: Experienced professionals in senior roles or those working on large projects may earn between MYR 6,000 and MYR 10,000 or more per month.

- Graduates with good portfolio in the Bachelor Architecture may apply LAM Part II exemption from the Board of Architects Malaysia (LAM)
- No exemptions for Professional Examination (Part III) ¨C Graduate Architect must have minimum 2 years working experience in an Architecture firm prior to the Professional Examination.
A word of advice
The work of an Architect is one of the most challenging, yet interesting. It is a profession in whcih one can grow to be a professional by exploring and experiencing a lot of things. You will acquire new knowledge from every project given to you which will enhance your problem solving abilities.
Architecture is a combination of a lot of things and if you are creative, architecture is a course that you will enjoy.
CHECK IF YOU ARE ELIGIBLE
The admission of students into the University/programme is done 3 times annually, namely for March semester, June semester and September/October semester, and students are selected based on their academic qualification(s).
The minimum entry requirement into Bachelor of Science (Architectural Studies) are as follows:
- Pass in Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) with full pass in two (2) subjects and credit for Mathematics at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level; or
- Pass· in A-Level with a pass in two (2) subjects and credit in Mathematics at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (5PM) level; or
- Pass in Matrikulasi Kementerian Pelajaran Malaysia in the relevant field with CPGA of at least 2.00; or
- Pass in Foundation in Arts/Built Environment or relevant field from a Malaysian Government acknowledged Higher Education Provider with CGPA of at least 2.00; or
- Pass in Diploma program in Architecture or relevant field from a Malaysian Government acknowledged Higher Education Provider with CGPA of at least 2.00; or
- Pass in Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with at least Grade Bin five (5) subjects including Mathematics; or
- Pass in Higher National Diploma (HND) in Architecture or relevant field from a Malaysian Government acknowledged Higher Education Provider with CGPA of at least 2.00; or
- Pass with 60% average in South Australian Matriculation 9SAM)/ Australian Matriculation (AUSMAT)/ New South Wales Higher School Certificate (NSW HSC); with a minimum Grade C in Mathematics; or
- Other qualifications deemed equivalent to the above by the Government of Malaysia
- Pass in Arts subject at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level; or
- ****Pass the portfolio test for those who did not take Arts subjects
For students who did not take any form of Art subjects during their High School study, samples of the student’s hand drawings will be requested when completing their admission documents, namely – Line drawings, Living Objects drawings and Non-living objects drawings. These drawings will be sent to the Faculty by the Marketing Department for verification of Portfolio test.

Professional Recognition
The Bachelor of Science (Architectural Studies) is recognised by the Board of Architects Malaysia (LAM) as equivalent to its professional Part I qualification. Graduate may opt to pursue IUKL’s Bachelor of Architecture (leading to LAM Part II qualification) or work in the architecture / built environment industry.
Note: The Board of Architects Malaysia or Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia (LAM) is a statutory authority responsible for registration of Professional Architects, Architects and Building Draughtsmen. It conducts examinations for admission to the profession and accredits the relevant architectural programmes.
Exemption for Professional Examination
- Graduate with good portfolio in the Bachelor of Science (Architectural Studies) may apply LAM Part I exemption from the Board of Architects Malaysia (LAM);
- Graduate with good portfolio in the Bachelor Architecture may apply LAM Part II exemption from the Board of Architects Malaysia (LAM);
