The program, Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (Hons), is a program designed to deliver students with the technical information in crop raising, integrated pest management, seed conditioning, agricultural chemicals, fertilizers, and technology and other areas associated to manufacture and quality control in the food and fibre industry. The curriculum is intended to generate competent graduates who can incorporate agricultural elements in farming systems, analyse farmer’s challenge and give sustainable technical solutions in the context of the existing resources.
Program Aim
The aim of this course is to specially equip students with the knowledge, skills, competencies, and awareness in preparation for employment in the industry to improve agriculture productivity and pave way for future developments. Professionals can work in innovative programs in a wide range of areas like agricultural biotechnology, plant breeder/geneticist, rural practice surveyor, soil scientist, animal nutritionist, field trials and forest/woodland management.
Career Opportunities
A wide range of jobs are available to those who obtain a Bachelor in Agricultural Science, including horticultural advisor, farm manager, horticulture sales or business manager, fruit and vegetable grower, park manager, and entrepreneurship, including developing products and establishing non-traditional markets for horticulture. The advanced skills learned in earning a Bachelor in Agricultural Science will help students move forward in a wide range of plant- and farm-based careers. Entry Requirements
Entry Requirements :
- Pass Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) (10+2) with a minimum of Grade C (GPA 2.00) in any two (2) subjects, or its equivalent; and possess Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) with three (3) credits in Mathematics, one science subject and one any other subject, or its equivalent;
OR - Pass Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STPM) with a minimum grade of Jayyid, or its equivalent; and possess SPM with three (3) credits in Mathematics, one science subject and one any other subject, or its equivalent;
OR - Matriculation/ Foundation with a minimum CGPA of 2.00, or its equivalent, and possess SPM with three (3) credits in Mathematics, one science subject and one any other subject, or its equivalent;
OR - A Diploma (Level 4, Malaysian Qualification Framework) in a related field with a minimum CGPA of 2.00, or its equivalent.
- English Proficiency for Foreign Students
International Students are required to achieve a minimum score of 5.5 for International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or its equivalent. If the student does not fulfil the above criteria the Lincoln University College must offer English proficiency course to ensure that student is proficient in the language to the standard required by the program.
