Programme Overview
Information Science is an interdisciplinary discipline that involves the management of information: how it is collected, stored, and retrieved and then how it is effectively utilised or communicated according to the needs of an individual or organisation. In this age of advanced technology, the interpretation of massive amounts of data is useful in the fields of business, industry, finance, medicine, science, agriculture, the environment and research etc. It is a fascinating field with enormous potential for improving efficiency as well as the quality of life all across the world.
This programme aims to develop competent and skillful graduates who can thrive in tomorrow’s fast-paced digital age while contributing to improvements in their organisation and the world around them. An internship and elective courses that are hands-on and practical in nature are included in the programme, providing students with the necessary skills, competencies and understanding of industry expectations.
Entry Requirements
STPM
A pass in STPM with a minimum Grade C (GP 2.0) in any 2 subjects and a credit in Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent; OR
Note: Candidate with a credit in computing related subject at SPM or STPM level or its equivalent may be given preferential consideration.
Diploma / Advanced Diploma
In Computer Science or Software Engineering or Information Technology or Information Systems or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.5 and a credit in Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent or Any other Diploma in Science and technology or business studies with a minimum CGPA of 2.5 may be admitted, subject to a rigorous internal assessment process and a credit in Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent.
Matriculation / Foundation
A pass in Matriculation or Foundation studies with minimum CGPA of 2.0 and a credit in Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent.
Note: Candidate with a credit in computing related subject at SPM or STPM level or its equivalent may be given preferential consideration.
