Entry Requirements

1)     Pass in STPM level with:

Ø  CGPA 3.00; and

Ø  Grade B (NGMP 3.00) in any two (2) of the following subjects:

v  Mathematics M / Mathematics T/Further Mathematics

v  Physics

v  Chemistry

v  Biology

v  Economy

v  Sejarah

v  Geography

v  Visual Arts; and

 

2)     Obtained at least the following:

Ø  Level 3 (band 3) in MUET; or

Ø  4B/B in English at the SPM level; and

 

3)     Obtained at least 4B at SPM level in the subjects Mathematics/Additional Mathematics; and

 

4)     Obtained at least 6 c/C in SPM in the following subjects:

Ø  Pendidikan Islam / Tasawwur Islam / Pendidikan Al-Qur’an & As-Sunnah / Pendidikan Syariah Islamiah

Ø  Any three (3) other subjects, including English

 

5)     Pass the interview.

SPECIAL CONDITION PROGRAM (MINIMUM) FOR DIPLOMA

1)     Diploma holder in connection with

Ø  CGPA 3.00 OR

Ø  PNG 2.8 with at least two (2) years of working experience in the relevant field;

OR

Ø  CGPA 2.50 for candidates with relevant Diploma level, with at least three (3) years working experience in related field; and

 

2)     Obtained at least as follows:

Ø  Level 3 (band 3) in MUET; or

Ø  4B/B in English at the SPM level; and

 

3)     Obtained at least 4B/B at the SPM level in the subjects Mathematics/Additional Mathematics; and

 

4)     Obtained at least 6 c/C in SPM in the following subjects:

Ø  Pendidikan Islam / Tasawwur Islam / Pendidikan Al-Qur’an & As-Sunnah / Pendidikan Syariah Islamiah

Ø  Any three (3) other subjects including English; and

 

5)     Pass the test and interview has been set.

 

6)     Passed the revision specified portfolios (except for Bachelor of Quantity Surveying-YH06).

SPECIAL CONDITION PROGRAM (MINIMUM) FOR STAM

1)     Pass in stage STAM with

Jayyid Jiddan Levels; and

 

2)     Obtained at least as follows:

Ø  Level 3 (band 3) in MUET; or

Ø  4B/B in English at the SPM level; and

 

3)     Obtained at least 4B/B at the SPM level dallam subjects Mathematics/Additional Mathematics; and

 

4)     Obtained at least 6 c/C in SPM in any two (2) of the following lessons:

v  Physics

v  Chemistry

v  Biology

v  Sejarah

v  Geography

v  The Accounting Principles; and

 

5)     Obtained at least 6 c/C in SPM in the following subjects:

Ø  Pendidikan Islam / Tasawwur Islam / Pendidikan Al-Qur’an & As-Sunnah / Pendidikan Syariah Islamiah; and

 

6)     Passed the interview.

 

(Note: students who are admitted from STAM needed to undergo preparation programmes in advance)

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

English and Arabic are the two primary languages used for instruction in the University, depending on the specific programme of study.

 

Applicants wishing to pursue their studies in programmes with English as medium of instruction must present a score of 550 in the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or Band 6.0 the International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) (Academic) with a minimum Band of 5.5 for each of the Skills – Writing, Reading, Listening/ Speaking (WRLS).

 

It is compulsory for those who apply for Bachelor of English Language and Literature to obtain Band 6.5 the International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) (Academic) with a minimum Band of 6.0 for each of the Skills – Writing, Reading, Listening and Speaking (WRLS).

 

Alternatively, they may sit for the IIUM-administered English Placement Test (EPT) and obtain a minimum of 6.0 points with a minimum Band of 5.5 for each skill – Writing, Reading, Listening and Speaking to fulfill the English language requirement.

 

Applicants interested in programmes with Arabic as a medium of instruction must achieve an exemption after sitting for the IIUM-administered Arabic Placement Test (APT).

 

Applicants who are unable to submit satisfactory results in any of the above tests may take up language proficiency courses at the University to fulfill the admission requirements.

A Job prospect for Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning graduates includes:

  1. Town Planning Officer with the Jabatan Perancang Bandar dan Desa (JPBD), Local Authorities, Regional Development Authorities or Rural Development Authorities.
  2. Corporate (Chartered)/Professional Planners – running own practice or as partnership or as an employee in a big urban Planners organization;
  3. Transport Planners, GIS Planners, Environmentalist, Social Urban Planners, Urban Designers and various fields of works that related to urban and regional planning.
  4. Academician (Tutors, Lecturers and professors) in teaching and lecturing in various architecture and environmental design schools;
  5. Project Manager – managing a development project on behalf of a client;
  6. Consultant or Advisor – to plan a development projects;
  7. Specialist in spatial analyses with using multi spatial technologies such as Computer Aided Design (CAD); GIS, Satellite Processing, Planning and Decision Support System and Statistical Analysis.
  8. Research Officer (with universities, research institutions, NGO’s or private firms);
