This postgraduate programme is aimed at equipping you with research skills so that you can progress your career in healthcare through designing, implementing, and evaluating the health interventions. You will be competent in solving common health problems of the community, and commensurate with your position as a member of the health team, using your research skills.
You will also be able to appreciate the socio-psychological, cultural, economic, and environmental factors affecting health, and develop humane attitude towards the community in discharging one’s professional responsibilities.
To achieve this, you will be familiarised with the basic factors which are essential for the implementation of the National Medical Research including practical aspects of the following:
- Epidemiology,
- Biostatistics,
- Systematic reviews & Evidence synthesis
- Monitoring & Evaluation of health programme,
- Research Ethical Principles,
Ultimately, this programme is aimed at helping you develop skills to identify community health problems and resolve these by designing, instituting corrective steps and evaluating outcome of such measures.

Entry Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in the field or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 or equivalent, or
- A bachelor’s degree in the field or related fields or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and not meeting a CGPA of 2.50, can be accepted subject to rigorous internal assessment.
*Candidates without a qualification in the related fields or working experience in the relevant fields must undergo appropriate prerequisite courses determined by MUCM and meet the minimum CGPA based on (I) to (II).
